Technology partnership extends Bedrock Data’s classification and data governance capabilities into Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bedrock Data, the platform provider for data-centric security, governance and management, today announced a strategic investment from Snowflake Ventures, which includes deeper technical integration with Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud and a go-to-market partnership. With this investment, Snowflake customers will benefit from Bedrock Data’s world-class, AI-powered data classification and governance capabilities, delivered within Snowflake Horizon for a unified view of their data estate. Bedrock Data also released a new ArgusAI integration with Snowflake Cortex AI that provides deeper visibility into AI agents and the data they access, enabling enterprises to govern generative AI with reduced exposure and higher confidence.

“Enterprises run their most critical data and AI workloads on Snowflake, where strong governance enables AI adoption,” said Harsha Kapre, Head of Snowflake Ventures. “Bedrock Data’s integrations with Snowflake Horizon and Snowflake Cortex AI help joint customers accelerate AI initiatives while maintaining security and compliance.”

Enterprises accelerating AI adoption are navigating a new generation of data governance challenges: AI outcomes ultimately reflect the integrity and controls surrounding the underlying data. According to Bedrock Data’s 2025 Enterprise Data Security Confidence Index, 79% of security teams struggle to classify sensitive data used in AI/ML systems, and fewer than half (48%) express high confidence in controlling sensitive data used for AI/ML training. Without comprehensive, petabyte-scale data discovery, classification and entitlements analysis, enterprises cannot adequately govern the AI systems they are rapidly deploying, a deficiency that carries significant regulatory, security and innovation risk.

“For many large enterprises, Snowflake is home to the data that drives their most important decisions. Securing that data, across both traditional analytics workloads and emerging AI applications, is a foundational requirement for any enterprise AI strategy,” said Bruno Kurtic, CEO and co-founder of Bedrock Data. “Snowflake’s investment affirms that data-centric governance is not a nice-to-have – it is a prerequisite for deploying AI with confidence. Together, we are giving enterprises the data visibility and control they need to innovate while improving security, governance and compliance.”

Bedrock Data Metadata Lake Powers Governance Across Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud

This partnership brings Bedrock Data’s patented Metadata Lake, a continuously updated graph knowledge base that maps every dimension of enterprise data, including sensitivity, lineage, entitlements, access patterns and business context, to Snowflake Horizon. The Metadata Lake serves as the source of truth for data sensitivity and risk context across an organization’s entire data landscape, enabling Snowflake adoption across all workflows, including AI and agent-driven applications, without manual tagging.

Bedrock Data provides continuous, petabyte-scale visibility into and security for Snowflake environments, autonomously discovering and classifying sensitive data stored within the platform, including PII, PHI, sensitive personal data, intellectual property and other high-value data assets, across structured, semi-structured and unstructured datasets. The platform assigns Impact Scores to schemas and tables based on the volume and sensitivity of the data they contain. This enables organizations to prioritize the most critical datastores when implementing security controls.

By mapping end-to-end entitlements across users, service accounts, roles and AI agents, the Bedrock Data platform identifies exactly who has access to sensitive data within Snowflake. Bedrock Data leverages Snowflake’s native tagging capability to automatically label data at the database, table and column levels based on its type and sensitivity. The platform automates access controls and masking policies directly within the Snowflake environment while ensuring the Snowflake Horizon Catalog stays up to date with real-time sensitivity data. Bedrock Data tracks data lineage and actual usage patterns, allowing enterprises to visualize data flows between Snowflake and other data stores while also eliminating unnecessary access to minimize their overall attack surface.

Bedrock Data’s ArgusAI solution now integrates with Cortex AI, Snowflake’s generative AI service, to inventory and catalog Cortex Agents and map the data they can access through Cortex Search and Cortex Analyst.

Availability

Bedrock Data’s integration with Snowflake that provides data discovery, classification, entitlements analysis and native masking invocation is available today. The Bedrock Data ArgusAI integration with Snowflake Cortex AI will be demonstrated at RSA Conference 2026 in San Francisco.
