A data store that an organization’s IT team manages itself, and takes on the responsibility for foundational management tasks, including purchasing their own licenses, tuning performance, installing patches, and configuring and testing backups. An example on AWS would be an organization running their own database on the compute provided by Amazon EC2 and storage provided by Amazon EBS.
