managed database

A database service where a third party (such as a public cloud or managed services provider) is responsible for the database’s security, availability, and operation. In exchange for paying a managed service fee, the organization’s IT team frees itself from database management tasks to work on driving business outcomes. Compare with an unmanaged data store.
