dlp

An acronym for data loss prevention. DLP solutions have been superseded by DSPM solutions. An example of a DLP rule provided by a solution is: “If a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet contains US Social Security numbers, users will not be able to attach that spreadsheet file to a Microsoft Outlook email.” DLP is limited by the number of environments supported, the up-front labor required to identify and tag sensitive data, and the types of actions it can prevent.
